From the Principal 's Desk..
“A school is a building surrounded by four walls with future inside”. It’s a social institution that reflects the standard of the society. Therefore, a good school is needed for a good society to exhalt and utilize its hidden talents for the fullest possible upliftment and progress. A school plays greater role in changing the society and its people in the sphere of academic, social, economic, mental, moral & physical development. Above all, it always keeps its door open for all irrespective of caste & creed, colour & community, high & low, rich & poor. Hence it may be termed as a pious and sacred social institution. One-step ahead, it ignites the young minds and moulds the pupils to good citizens as well as the good leaders of the nation.
With this end in view, Mr. & Mrs. Menon established this institution on 15th August, 1975 with 15 tiny tots and one teacher. In 1994, it was handed over to the Board of Trustees, BHSEM headed by the D.C., Bongaigaon as Ex-Officio Chairman. It is because of the sustained effort & dedication of the Trustees the school has reached at the present stage. At present, it enrolled around 1300 students and 70 staff. It is needless to mention that the school has made a remarkable and speedy progress in scholastic and non-scholastic as well as infrastructural areas. Apart from that due to the heavy public demand, the management resolved to construct another multi-storied building for its Higher Secondary section which is in progress. We have taken some more steps to make it a model institution. The school arranged day-night security personnel to ensure the security of the school. The school is well-protected by a complete boundary wall. It has also made provisions of drainage system, fire-fighting, pure drinking water, sufficient lavatories etc. Similarly, the school made arrangement for Identity cards for both the students and the parents, provides instruments for games and sports, updated school diary, prospectus, progress report, yearly activity calendar, Annual Syllabus etc.. It also maintains teacher students -ratio, sufficient nos. of class rooms, school library cum reading room, computer laboratory, science laboratory, indoor game room etc. It is worthy to mention that the school maintains its credit of academic excellence and had already received the Best School Award and recognition from the District Administration.
The school gives due importance on the interest of the students in choosing their subjects and accordingly made the provisions of various subjects like Assamese, Hindi, Bodo, Adv. Maths,Computer Sc. etc. as optional subjects. It is also to be noted that Assamese and Hindi subjects are made compulsory upto Std. VII to enrich the students’ knowledge of regional & national languages. The school provides ample opportunities to its pupils for their all round development. Apart from these, school has a wall magazine with the title “The Reflection” through which the students can expose their literary and artistic talents. Above all, the school provides a wide platform through its Annual Magazine “ICON” for its pupils to exhalt their budding and hidden talents in various fields. Achievements of students in curricular activities and academic excellence are highlighted through this school magazine. However, I congratulate the Editorial Board on its tireless efforts in bringing out this publication. I also extend my sincere thanks to the persons who have contributed to this issue and enhanced its perfection & beautification through their articles, short stories, poems, jokes, comics, paintings etc. I am also thankful to the Board of Trustees for their support & valuable suggestions in bringing out this issue of this school magazine. Let’s hope that the readers will accept this issue whole heartedly pointing out the error, if any with their constructive suggestions. May God always be with us.
